About Sophie

Sophie is originally from Liverpool, UK and moved to Grand Cayman with her husband in 2019. Sophie is passionate about the environment and has made many changes to live sustainably and use less plastic day to day. She is a High School Mathematics teacher and has always been a keen organiser of school Environmental clubs. Sophie believes education is the first steps to positive change and to encourage a greener, more sustainable lifestyle.

Having lived on islands and in various countries over the last few years, I have seen how plastic and household waste can travel across the world. Items wash up years later either still whole or as tiny crumbling microplastics! Beach cleans are one step to stop the build-up and help clean up the community but there has to be more. We need to educate, take responsibility and all be part of the change!
